Pentecôte 2007

"It is of the utmost importance to expand the vision of young Christians and encourage them to see their entire existence through the eyes of God.  Pentecôte 2007 aims to inspire a generation of young men and women to rise up and answer the call to serve God and others with all they are."

Summary

Pentecôte 2007: Mission Attitude was a national youth event that motivated and challenged over 3,700 young people from all over France to live out their calling and gifts in Christ – serving God and serving others.  Pentecôte 2007 provided three days of opportunity for these young people to open their eyes to the reality of God’s plan in their lives, stand up and answer the call to follow Christ.

Through on-going prayer centers, discussion groups, music and drama events, an impressive array of speakers, and over 100 different exhibitors offering service internships, this event created a safe place of understanding, connection, motivation, and encouragement.  Pentecôte 2007 is proving to be a catalyst to a deeper relationship with God and a life of service in His Kingdom that France's youth so desperately need.

Background (Recap)

Among all the members of the Body of Christ, there is no group possibly more important than our youth – the future of the Church.  We are called to understand and encourage them, to provide purposeful discipleship and concrete opportunities to serve, and to pray for this emerging generation of Christians.  This is especially vital in France where Evangelical believers count for only .5% of the population and there are less than 1,900 Evangelical churches in a population of 62 million.

In France, the youth are even more marginalized since most youth groups only have between 10 and 20 people and Christian students usually stand alone in their schools and sometimes even in their families.  In this group of young Christians, fellowship is not just superficially encouraging – in many senses it is their life blood.  Additionally, many of France’s young people see “service for God” limited to a pastoral ministry or missionary work and are not sure how to live out their faith in Christ in practical ways.

Pentecôte 2007 called out the youth, who are at the beginning of their lives, to consider their existence in light of God’s plan.  We have already seen that many of those present discover more about their calling and life in Christ!
